Wild Love: Vanessa & Brandon’s Safari Elopement in Kruger

Vanessa and Brandon always knew they wanted to elope — no fuss, no crowds, just the two of them, an epic backdrop, and a meaningful ceremony that felt like them. And when they dreamed about where in the world they would do it, South Africa kept calling their names. So, they packed their bags in Canada and flew halfway across the world to say “I do” on safari — wild love in the truest sense.

Some couples just know… eloping is the only way that feels right for them. Vanessa and Brandon were one of those couples. They had always dreamt of eloping and always wanted to travel to South Africa. So they decided to do both, combining their love for adventure with their love for each other.

A Hidden Gem in the Bushveld

They chose Imagine Africa, tucked inside the Olifants West Reserve in Greater Kruger. A luxurious yet intimate lodge surrounded by raw African bushveld, it was the perfect setting for their adventure. Elephants often visit the waterhole just beyond the lodge fence, adding a bit of magic to the already surreal atmosphere — and yes, they were lucky enough to have one stop past for a look at the lovely couple, and trumpet her approval for Vanessa’s gorgeous dress!

The morning of their elopement was beautifully calm. No rush, no timeline — a sunrise game drive, breakfast, coffee, quiet excitement, and the joy of knowing this was finally happening. When it was time, they got ready at their own pace, taking in every moment. When Brandon turned around for their first look, he was completely floored. Vanessa was radiant, and the emotion in that moment was something special.

Vows by the Water

Then it was time to climb into the game vehicle and head out into the reserve. We made our way to one of the quiet dams, where the ceremony took place in the golden afternoon light. With the stillness of nature around them, they said their vows and promised each other forever. It was heartfelt, simple, and deeply intentional — a ceremony that was perfectly theirs. After sealing it with a kiss, Brandon broke the glass in a beautiful nod to Jewish tradition

Bubbly, Sundowners & Safari Magic

After popping some bubbly and toasting to their brand-new chapter. We set off on a golden-hour game drive, stopping along the way to take golden hour portraits and enjoy a proper South African sundowner… drinks in hand, watching the sun melt behind the horizon.

Vanessa and Brandon’s safari elopement was the ultimate celebration of love, freedom, and adventure — a reminder that when you follow your heart (and your passport), magic happens.
