Silvia & Alex decided they couldn’t wait any longer to get married and asked me to plan a magical elopement for them in 3 weeks in the lovely little village of Kaapsehoop! And what a magical elopement it turned out to be!
A Relaxed and Romantic Wedding Day
Their wedding day was super relaxed, starting with the 3 of us walking around the village scouting for the perfect ceremony spot – we found 4 of them. We used one for the first look – Silvia looked gorgeous and Alex was blown away! And so began one of the most romantic elopements.
A Ceremony in a Field of Wild Daisies
The next stop was the ceremony spot, a field of wild daisies with forests and mountains in the background . It was such an intimate ceremony where you could just feel the love surrounding them.
After the ceremony, the family went back to the guesthouse to change into comfy clothes and toast with a whiskey. Silvia, Alex, Megan and I went off for the couple shoot in some really beautiful spots around town.
Everyone gathered on the patio for some more toasting, video calls and chatting. Later, they sat down to a delicious Mediterranean harvest table dinner prepared from scratch by Sandra, Heidi and Laila from Green Venus. After some really moving toasts and dinner, everyone went off to play pool at the local pub down the road.
A Sunrise Hike to a Hidden Waterfall
The next morning, we were up early to hike down to the waterfall for some more couple photos. This picturesque waterfall cascades into a crystal-clear pool. The trail leading to the waterfall winds through lush indigenous vegetation with towering trees and butterflies. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the soothing sound of rushing water, makes it the perfect spot for a romantic photos. What a beautiful place and perfect for this adventurous couple, who had the most fun and ended up in the cold water by the end of it.
A quick side note… Silvia’s gorgeous dress was the dress and veil that Alex’s sister (who lives overseas) got married in. Silvia redesigned it and had it altered and combined to create her unique dream dress.
I also just have to add, Silvia & Alex are huge dog (and animal) lovers. While we were doing the couple shoot, we had a visit from two energetic Pointers who were out on their afternoon walk. Before dinner, the owner of the guesthouse arranged for a neighbour to bring her huge, fluffy Husky to say hi to them before dinner, as a wedding present. There are also quite a few wild horses in town, including a couple of week old foals. We also had two town cats visiting us at the guesthouse. If all of that isn’t a cherry on the top, I don’t know what is!
Besides being a perfect match and madly in love with each other, Silvia & Alex also have the most supportive, loving and fun families and they enjoyed every second of their time together (myself included!). It was one of those experiences that leaves such an impression on me and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
