Some love stories are written with ocean waves, sunshine, and just the right amount of wind. Narlene and David’s elopement at Dias Beach in Cape Point was one of those stories – wild, beautiful, and full of heart.
Narlene and David packed their bags in Australia, brought along their sweet daughter Daisy and dear friend Thao, and made their way to South Africa. Dias Beach at Cape Point, with its dramatic backdrop and untamed beauty, was the perfect place for their cliffside elopement.
Before we carry on, can I just say, how awesome do Narlene and David look in that stunning black evening dress and tux!? I am SO here for it!
Dias Beach, Cape Point
Cape Point never disappoints when it comes to dramatic scenery, and on this sunny, windswept day, it truly showed off. We made our way down the 145 steep steps that lead to the hidden treasure that is Dias Beach—one of the most secluded and spectacular spots along the Cape Peninsula. Once at the bottom, sheltered from the ever-present wind by towering cliffs, we were greeted by white sand, crashing waves, and the deep blue Atlantic stretching endlessly before us.
With Daisy playing nearby and Thao standing beside them, Narlene and David shared their heartfelt vows against this incredible natural backdrop, with their toes in the sand. Thao offered some beautiful words to the couple—a touching, personal moment that added even more depth to the ceremony.
After the ceremony, we took full advantage of this secluded paradise. The ever-talented Andre and Selma from Expressions Photography perfectly captured the romance and adventure of the day with their signature magic. The beach, almost completely deserted, gave Narlene and David the space to simply be present with each other—laughing, holding hands, dancing barefoot in the sand. The light was soft and golden, the kind that turns photographs into artwork and the mood was nothing short of magical.
Slangkop Lighthouse, Kommetjie
As the day gently began to fade, we made our way to Kommetjie to chase the last bit of light. The sun dipped low over the ocean while we captured dreamy sunset shots at Slangkop Lighthouse – a quiet, beautiful ending to a day full of love, laughter, and a little bit of adventure.
From dramatic cliffs to soft ocean light, this elopement was the perfect mix of adventure and intimacy. Narlene and David’s day was everything a runaway romance should be—heartfelt, beautiful, and completely their own.
Narlene and David, thank you for choosing this wild corner of South Africa to celebrate your love. Your day was unforgettable, just like your story.
Please note
Because Narlene and David’s ceremony took place in a protected area, we had to get special approval and permits from SANParks to host their elopement. It was incredibly important to us that we respected the natural environment every step of the way. As part of the process, we worked closely with an Environmental Compliance Officer who was present on the day to ensure that every detail aligned with conservation regulations and didn’t disturb the sensitive ecosystem, including using artificial flowers.
