Luciana and Felipe travelled all the way from Brazil to South Africa for their safari elopement, choosing the heart of the bushveld as the place to say “I do.” After facing a life-changing health challenge, they realised what truly mattered to them — each other. They wanted their wedding day to be intimate, meaningful, and focused on their love story. No big crowd, no fuss — just the two of them, surrounded by nature and the wild beauty of Africa.
A Magical Setting
They stayed at the beautiful Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge, a hidden gem tucked away in the Kruger National Park, making it the ideal setting for a destination wedding in South Africa.
I Do’s Beneath the Jackalberry Tree
Their intimate elopement took place under one of Africa’s most iconic trees, the Jackalberry. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect — soft light filtering through the branches, the sounds of the bush, with elephants quietly grazing nearby — gentle witnesses to a moment that was anything but ordinary.
Dancing Under the Trees
After the ceremony, the lodge surprised them with a gorgeous cake, and they shared their first dance under the trees to Elvis Costello’s “She” — a song that perfectly captured their connection and the journey that brought them here.
Sundowners, Golden Hour & a Curious Giraffe
As the sun began to dip, we continued on the game drive, stopping for sundowners and photos in that golden African light. And then, as if scripted by nature itself, a giraffe wandered past, pausing to curiously watch the photo session. I think it’s proof that wild animals definitely have a soft spot for elopements in the bush (and brides in beautiful dresses!).
A Private Dinner Under the Stars
Their day ended with a romantic private dinner for two back at the lodge, surrounded by lanterns and the soft sounds of the African night. It was the perfect ending to a day that celebrated not just their marriage, but their resilience, love, and shared sense of adventure.
Luciana and Felipe are passionate travellers with a home full of rescued animals — so a wildlife-filled elopement in Africa was the perfect reflection of who they are. Their intimate wedding in Kruger National Park was proof that sometimes the most meaningful celebrations are the simplest ones — when two people choose each other completely, surrounded by the vast, beautiful world that reminds us how lucky we are to love and be loved.
