Tony and Julie had a trip to South Africa and Namibia planned to celebrate Julie’s birthday. They decided that getting married would be a great way to start their epic adventure. With only one day in Johannesburg before they went off to the Kruger Park, we had a whirlwind celebration to plan!

Whirlwind wedding

Julie and Tony are a relaxed couple and you can clearly see they adore each other. After a long flight from Quebec (with a 10 hour stop in London), they arrived in Joburg ready to get married!

Tony is a die hard Arsenal fan, so naturally there had to be red included in the flowers and décor.

No time to waste

At Doveton House, our amazing team of stylists, working on a tight deadline, accentuated Julie’s beauty so that she was ready for her I Do’s. Tony waited patiently for his bride to arrive so that he could walk her down the ‘aisle’. After a touching ceremony they celebrated with bubbly and a delicious cake, complete with little Zebra couple cake toppers (the Zebra bride even had a diamanté on her left hoof!)

After that, we raced off (at the speed limit and with a very capable driver) to the Lion and Safari Park for some animal photos. Everyone interacted with the cheetah and lion cubs, such a treat and great for photos! (We did check their policies regarding their lion cubs etc). The giraffe also joined us for some photos and a bit of a chin scratch.

Anywhere can be a beautiful backdrop

On the way back to Doveton House, we pulled over on the side of the road to take some nature pics in the long grass and take advantage of the beautiful light.

After a long but love filled day, the happy couple relaxed with a bottle of Dom Perignon and a pizza.

This was such an amazing day filled with love, laughs and above all, happiness!

PS… Julie & Tony come back to South Africa every year now to enjoy the Kruger Park and to explore the country some more.

A Thank You note from Julie & Tony

“We had the pleasure of meeting Louise for the first time in September 2018 via a FaceTime video call to discuss our elopement wedding and then in person for our actual elopement in Johannesburg in early October 2018.

Throughout the whole process of arranging our wedding, we found Louise to be very helpful and responsive to our requests. Louise is also a lovely person and someone that is passionate about her business and really makes every effort to make sure her clients have a very special day.

We both absolutely loved our day and Louise was a major part in that! Every part of our day was amazing and we wouldn’t have changed anything!

For anyone looking for a wedding/elopement in the Johannesburg area you really don’t need to look any further than Runaway Romance.”

Tony & Julie… Thank you so much for the kind words! I enjoyed every minute of the planning and feel so honoured to have been a part of your special day! It was such a great adventure xxx
