A Magical Elephant Wedding at Knysna Elephant Park | Stacy & Eduard’s Unique South African Elopement
A Fairytale Beginning at Sea
There are love stories, and then there are the kind that feel like they’ve stepped straight out of a fairytale at sea.
Stacy and Eduard’s story began aboard a cruise ship, where life feels a little more magical and a little less ordinary. As professional ice skaters, their worlds quite literally revolved around storytelling on ice – he as Peter Pan, she as Tinker Bell. It’s easy to imagine how those roles blurred into real life, where adventure, playfulness, and a touch of magic brought them together.
Choosing a Wild and Meaningful Wedding Setting
When it came time to choose where to say “I do,” they knew a traditional setting wouldn’t quite capture who they are. Instead, they chose the wild, beautiful charm of Knysna Elephant Park—a place where their deep love for animals could be part of their wedding story. Their closest friends and siblings joined them for their wedding adventure.
As happens along the Garden Route in June, the day arrived wrapped in clouds. They didn’t allow the dark skies to dampen their excitement. As Stacy and Eduard exchanged their vows in the cosy chapel, streaming their ceremony to loved ones around the world.
An Unforgettable Elephant Encounter
After the ceremony, they celebrated with bubbly and delicious cake. Soon, the elephants (and their handlers) made their appearance, ambling past to be fed by the couple and their guests. It was one of those surreal, heart-stirring moments—where laughter, awe, and a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves all came together.
A Dreamy Couple Shoot
Their couple shoot out in the open field felt like something out of a dream. The elephants moved slowly in the background, the sky still heavy with clouds, creating a scene that was both wild and romantic. And just as they wrapped up, the skies finally opened.
A Cosy Celebration in the Rain
The rain came down in earnest during cocktail hour and dinner, turning the celebration into a cosy gathering. There’s something about rain on a wedding day that brings everyone closer – more laughter, more warmth, more shared moments under cover.
Ending the Day with Gentle Giants
After the celebrations, Stacy and Eduard spent the night in the Elephant Nature Lodge, where the rooms overlook the elephant sleeping area. A perfect end to a perfect day, even if the elephants snore and fart loudly in their sleep 🙂
