Niveshni and Alex are both doctors at two of Johannesburg’s biggest government hospitals. Obviously they have waaay bigger things to worry about than planning a wedding, you know, saving lives and staying safe during Covid. We were lucky to be able to go on this journey with them and help them plan their mountainside wedding in the Drakensberg.
They invited their closest friends (most of them doctors as well) and family to join them for the weekend at the beautiful Montusi Mountain Lodge in the Drakensberg. They didn’t want a wedding wedding, but rather a fun weekend get together to celebrate their marriage that also happened to be a wedding. Niveshni wore a gorgeous red dress and Alex looked super smart in a 3 piece suit – on a very warm Spring day!
The ceremony was held next to the dam in the shade of the trees. In order to make the ceremony a bit more interesting and inclusive, they decided to do a sand ceremony where everyone added their own bottle of sand to the main bottle.
After the ceremony, guests and eventually the couple, relaxed out on the lawns enjoying the gin and whiskey bars, while taking in the sun setting over the mountains. A delicious 3 course dinner was served, followed by some very energetic dancing – it was probably everyone’s first party since Covid began!
It was such a beautiful weekend and Nivi and Alex had so much fun sharing it with their special people.
After all that you have sacrificed and been through in the last year, it was an honour for me to join you guys on this small part of your journey as your planner and marriage officer. You guys are superheroes!
