Nicky and James first got in touch with me from the UK, in October 2019, to plan their elopement for October 2020. This elopement took another 2 years to happen… thanks Covid!
But happen it did! Finally!
Nicky & James met in 2006, and kept up a longish distance relationship for a few years. They’re all about family, having fun, drinking good wine and dancing and playing golf.
They chose the beautiful Molenvliet Vineyards for their elopement, with their vines and the mountain in the background. They were joined by their son and his girlfriend, keeping it very intimate. After the ceremony, they went frolicking around the property taking photos with Selma and Andre from Expressions Photography.
After the photos, we were treated to an impromptu first dance in the middle of the driveway, to their favourite song Betcha by Golly Wow by Prince, to round it all off.
Their son had also put together video messages from friends and family back in the UK – turns out it wasn’t a surprise marriage like Nicky and James thought it was.
It was such a pleasure to work with Nicky and James, getting to know the over two years. And it was such an honour to marry them as well.
